Three sentence movie reviews: She’s All That

I thought it was a travesty that the library didn’t have a copy of this movie, but upon repeat viewing, I realized the movie doesn’t hold up all that well.  Freddie Prinze Jr. is rather wooden, the main character is uneven and changes too rapidly. The two things I remembered from my first viewing (the dad answering wrong answers to Jeopardy and the dance scene at the prom) were still good, but overall the movie was not.

Cost:  free due to boyfriend going out of town and me poaching from the Netflix queue.
Where watched: at home.

Part two in the Paul Walker memorial retrospective.  And yes, his character was not very nice.
Also!  Dule!  From West Wing!

  1. Dule Hill is in this? I love him on Psych. His character makes every single scene. Anyway, it's been a long time since I've seen this but I remember it as not being very good. Definitely one of the lesser entries for the "transformation" genre.

  2. Dule plays one of the friends of Freddie Prinze. The nice one, unlike Paul Walker, who plays the jerk.

Here's my problem with this movie. She was totally hot the whole time. I mean really, when FPJ says "give me fat, give me ugly, but please don't give me her" I'm thinking, why not, FPJ? She's an artist and incredibly cute. She was supposedly angry, but not even really that. Just kind of aware about the greater world. And there's a whole speech about how she doesn't like contacts, then wears them once and never goes back to the glasses? No. I kept comparing this to "10 Things I Hate About You" and it kept missing the mark by a mile.

  3. I remember loving this move. I have watched it a few times in the recent past, but, perhaps only because I caught part of it on TV. I can see how it does not hold up based upon your sharing!
