Not such a great Postcrossing month on the receiving end…

I love how the Postcrossing people not only facilitate the sending and receiving of postcards around the world, but they also enjoy stats as much as me.  Sadly, these stats show it was a dry month for receiving postcards.  Oh well, I guess more will come in January.

Postcards from Netherlands and Texas

Hans writes from Utrecht that “I love our Royal House.”  He also told me that they got a new king and queen this year, which I knew because of an earlier postcard from the Netherlands and because I read it in the paper.  I would be excited about a new king (or queen) too!

Preston writes from Canyon, which is apparently a small city in the Texas Panhandle.  He tells me that Canyon is where West Texas A&M University is.   I’m also interested in Preston’s card because he sent it with a 33-cent stamp.  It occurs to me that it has been a few years since 33-cents paid for a first-class letter.  I remember the stamps he sent, though.  It was the series of early US flags.

It’s been a dry month for Postcrossing postcards.  I’m glad these two came in the mail.

Postcard from Ukraine

This is from Sofia who has the hobbies of photography, painting and listening to rock music.  She reports that “I also listen to such world-famous groups as Scropions, the Beatles, AC/DC, Metallica and others.”

Also, this painting is a Ukrainian National Pattern.  Man, we don’t have any national patterns here in the US!

It arrived bearing some great stamps.

Postcards from Virginia and Germany

Fill in the blank!  This is from Sara.  She reports improvement, which is always good!

This is from Arlette in Germany and she drew it for me.  It is made using a technique called “Zentangle.”  Each of the patterns has a name and she picked out four that spell my name:  PAradox, TRIpoli, CIceron, Aura-leah.  I love it!  Arlette reports the following facts about her:  drawing relaxes her, she loves hot chocolate and sometimes books make her cry.

I was interested in Zentangle and did a bit of research and discovered that not only did the library have books on the subject, there are three upcoming classes.  How about that for kismet?

Postcards from Belarus & Kauai

This is from Luyana and she is studying in Minsk. She told me how beautiful Belarus is.  This isn’t even my first postcard from Minsk.  People from Belarus love Postcrossing.

My Aunts are in Hawaii for their annual trip and Aunt Pat reports that “we have a nice cottage and a lovely view of the ocean showing a hammock tied to two palm trees.”
